Funding for Therapy
At ABC Speech Pathology, we understand that accessing funding for therapy can feel overwhelming. There are several funding pathways available to support children and families, including NDIS funding, Medicare Health Care Plans using Doctor Referral, and other community based programs. The information and links below are provided to help guide you toward the most relevant funding options for your child’s needs.

MEDICARE PLANS
Eligible patients may access Medicare rebates for a limited number of speech pathology sessions each calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management Plan. This requires a referral from a General Practitioner who has prepared a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement. Please speak with your GP to determine your eligibility and obtain a valid referral before booking.
NDIS EARLY INTERVENTION (Under 9)
Families can access support for their child’s early development needs through the Wanslea Early Childhood Approach. Wanslea is an NDIS partner that can assist with understanding NDIS eligibility, gathering required information, and navigating the application process. Connecting with Wanslea helps you understand what evidence and documentation are needed to support an NDIS access request and supports you through the planning stages. Follow the link below to learn more about their services and how to begin the process.
Private Health Funds
Patients with eligible extras cover may be able to claim rebates for speech pathology services through their private health fund. Rebates and annual limits vary depending on your level of cover and provider. A referral is not typically required; however, we recommend contacting your health fund directly to confirm your eligibility, rebate amount and any claiming requirements prior to booking.
NDIS FUNDING
The National Disability Insurance Scheme provides funding for eligible individuals with a permanent and significant disability. To be eligible, a person must meet age, residency and disability requirements. If you are considering applying to the NDIS, connecting with a partner is a helpful first step. For children younger than 9 years, families can contact an Early Childhood Partner. For children aged 9 years and older, you can contact your Local Area Coordinator. These partners will guide you through the eligibility criteria, explain what supporting information is required, and assist you with the application process.
